ELON MUSK UNVEILS HIS NEXT TECHNOLOGY TO TRY TO RESTORE SIGHT TO THE BLIND

After the “Telepathy” brain chip, Elon Musk revealed his next project, “Blindsight”, which will restore sight to the blind.

On the road to a scientific revolution? Neuralink , the brain implant interface neurotech startup co-founded by Elon Musk, has unveiled “Blindsight,” its next product that aims to restore vision to blind people.

“Blindsight is the next @Neuralink product after Telepathy,” declared the president of Tesla, on his social network ‘One has never had vision, for example if they were born blind, we believe we can still restore vision using Neuralink.’

Discussed several times in the past, this technology uses a brain-computer interface (BCI) to bypass damaged visual pathways, allowing the brain to receive visual data without using the traditional pathways of the eyes and optic nerves.

A SUCCESSFUL TRIAL FOR THE FIRST NEURALINK PATIENT

The process involves capturing visual information with a camera or similar device and then processing it by a computer to translate it into electrical impulses that the brain can understand. Then, these impulses are transmitted to the implanted Neuralink device, which stimulates the visual cortex with patterns mimicking natural visual perception. The end goal is to enable the person to perceive these signals as meaningful visual information, thus providing a new form of vision.

The announcement came after the company shared a video that went viral featuring Noland Arbaugh, a 29-year-old man left quadriplegic after a diving accident eight years ago. During a live broadcast on Elon Musk’s account, he demonstrated the ability to play video games and play chess online simply with his mind.

If no date has been communicated for the release of the next Neuralink device, the successful implantation of the brain chip will surely speed things up for the company. However, the technology would have to go through different phases of testing before its actual implementation on humans.

Billionaire Elon Musk confided in an interview on Monday March 18 that he regularly took ketamine to treat his “negative state of mind”.

Concerns brushed aside by Elon Musk himself. While many investors have expressed fears about his drug use , the Tesla owner confirmed that he took this anesthetic, normally used against pain and depression, but also misused for stimulant or euphoric.

“From an investor point of view, if I take something, then I have to continue taking it,” said the South African billionaire during an interview on CNN , while denying abuse of ketamine consumption: only “a small dose once every two weeks or so” in order to “get out of a negative state of mind”.

NO CONFIRMED SUPPORT FOR DONALD TRUMP

During the interview during which he claimed that one of Tesla’s models was “the best-selling car in the world last year”, Elon Musk also returned to his meeting with Donald Trump last March, without specify who he will support in the November presidential election.

However, he said he was “moving away” from Democratic President Joe Biden without supporting Donald Trump , adding that “a lot can happen between now and the election.”
